All right, it’s time to be honest. Broadway dreams require hard work, perseverance, and lots of practice. If your dream is to compose for the Broadway stage, you should know that it takes years to put together a polished product for its big premiere on the Great White Way. The truth is, we can’t all be Stephen Sondheim (who wrote lyrics to West Side Storyat age 27!) or Stephen Schwartz (who wrote the Godspell score at age 23!). So, what can a budding musical theater composer do while waiting for that big break? We took a look at the earlier jobs held by some of the biggest composers in the business!
